Education
In and Around Clark County Washingto

Choice and Opportunity

There is a strong commitment to education in the Vancouver Washington and the surrounding communities of Clark County Washington.  In this family-oriented region, the needs of children are an important priority, and residents place a high value on the quality of their education, public and private, from pre-school to college.

There are some significant differences between the states of Oregon and Washington in terms of how public schools are funded and some other related factors.  You are advised to read the Oregonian article comparing Clark County Washington and Portland Oregon schools (CLICK HERE) and to obtain information on the school districts and individual schools by exploring this site further.

Several excellent higher-education institutions are found in Vancouver Washington, including Clark College, a junior college offering excellent undergraduate education and Associate Degrees, and also the new and beautiful rapidly growing Washington State University campus located in the Salmon Creek/Mt. Vista neighborhood of Vancouver, which offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs and degrees.  WSUV full-time student enrollment increased 14.2% from the spring of 2007 to early 2008. Not surprisingly, the Vancouver campus of this major Washington state university is currently investing almost $3 Million in capital projects.

Adults, too, will find varied and often exceptional options to further their education, whether in pursuit of a higher degree, career enhancement, developing new talents, or satisfying a full range of special interests.

The region's library systems are outstanding, and the popularity of bookstores -- including the huge, world-renowned Powell's -- is a testament to how well-read folks in the area are.

More detailed information on the region's public and private schools and universities can be accessed via the SCHOOL INFORMATION and COMMUNITY LINKS pages on this website (see Public Schools, Private Schools, Home Schooling, Day Care and Pre-Schools, and Colleges and Universities sections).
